Time & Education, Learning, Training

Sometimes time feels like it moves fast and slow.

Some of us go faster; others learn slower.

In our life, we are always learning.

At work, we receive training.

This is our education.

It takes time.

How much?

Too much.

Why?

This is a 4 hour ski trip up and down a mountain, showing what is happening in the brain. You’re looking at a network of brain cells that expresses our sense of time within experiences and memories. Observe the memories represented by icons. What is this person thinking about while skiing?

How long was that training video at work? Is it possible you thought of something else while watching it? Training videos don’t always work.

Too much of our education is measured in time, instead of over time. Over time we can experience and think about a lot. Being forced to spend a certain amount of time, becomes a waste of time for some of us, while not enough for others. This is because we are different. We learn at different speeds.

How many years did you spend in school? Do you have a degree? How long would you say your education was, even if you dropped out? In hours?

Whether a degree, or certification, training, or continuing education, many of our systems prioritize time over knowledge, instead of knowledge over time.

Should knowledge be measured over time, or at moments in time? Both?

It’s a question of what matters more in education, learning, and training.

Knowledge? Or time?
